a quote a day #2

"Who expects small things to survive when even the largest get lost? People forget years and remember moments. Seconds and symbols are left to sum things up...Love, in its shortest form, becomes a word." - excerpt from Snow by Ann Beattie

I came across this passage sometime over the summer as I was reading from the required text (book) for my English course. I read it a few times over and it did something for my heart. There is so much truth that is found in these words. We are living years, decades, some of us even a century- but we remember our life in moments. Perhaps it would be unbearable to remember every second of our life in detail. Our minds would bend from the effort. But, oh, how splendid to remember a single moment that defines and embodies an entire year(s) of living. I remember the year 2013 as being the best year of my life. It was in this year that I finished the Quran, graduated, and performed Hajj (pilgimrage) - all in that order.

People forget years and remember moments....
