a quote a day #3 (all are but blessings given and taken throughout)

"And O, there are days in this life worth life and worth death. And O, what a bright old song it is, that O, 'tis love, 'tis love, 'tis love, that makes the world go round."
- from Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens

Came across this passage today and I was immediately reminded of my "a quote a day posts" which I've apparently abandoned due to forgetfulness and sickness.

It wasn't meant to be - but O, there are days like this when it is meant...to be. Days like this when I am reminded of all the blessings I have taken for granted. It is the absence of these blessings (health, wealth, peace) that remind us heavily of how fortunate we are to be always with and not without, alhamdulilah. I am sick and have found it hard now to enjoy the basics of life; eating, sleeping, laughing even. All due to a cold; a flu. How very weak we humans are, and yet we claim might and power.

We need to be more grateful, more positive and aware of all the things we are given as opposed to all the things we wish to have. We need love and the love of the Beloved (swt). All the rest; all of the glitter and glammer of this life, the cars and the houses and the money and the might and power we claim to be ours- all are but blessings given and taken throughout. What is left, then, is the love that never stops giving.

O, 'tis love, 'tis love, 'tis love, that makes the world go round.
